Welcome to Acorn Shores Resort, where tranquil waters and promising fishing adventures await. The Resort is located on McClaine Lake on the Tiger Cat Flowage 15 minutes from Hayward, WI. Picture 1,065 acres of natural beauty, featuring lakes like McClaine, Upper Twin, Lower Twin, Placid, Burns, and Clear – each with its own unique charm.

This drainage-type lake isn't just a pretty face; it boasts a shore length that'll make any angler's heart skip a beat – 29.69 miles of prime fishing real estate. Dive into its depths, and you'll discover a maximum depth of 30 feet and water clarity that reveals the underwater world up to 10 feet. The littoral bottom is a blend of 20% sand, 10% gravel, 5% bedrock, and a whopping 65% detritus – a true underwater fashion show!

Getting to the Tiger Cat Flowage is a breeze – the concrete ramp located near hayward power sports lets out into Upper Twin, and from there you can use the navigable channel to dock at Acorn Shores. VIP entrance, anyone?

Fishing Information

Now, let's talk fish. Tiger Cat Flowage is the VIP lounge for muskie aficionados. Sure, they might be on the smaller side, averaging 22 inches, but trust us, it's a muskie "action lake" – the party never stops! Walleyes, largemouth bass, bluegills, crappies, and perch are all on the guest list. And guess what? Northern pike decided to crash the party too! Young kids and families will enjoy fishing for pan fish right from one of the docks at acorn shores.  As long as you use some sort of live bait, you will get a bite!

In conclusion, pack your rods, grab your tackle box, and head to Tiger Cat Flowage for a fishing adventure like no other. Acorn Shores Resort welcomes you to the ultimate fisherman's haven – where every cast is a story, and every catch is a memory. Get ready to reel in the fun, surrounded by the tranquility and natural beauty that define Sawyer County's Tiger Cat Flowage. 🎣✨

Wondering when to plan your vacation to Wisconsin's Northwoods? We have lots of guests who come in the summers to enjoy the Lake and the River, lots of guests in the fall to enjoy fires and fall colors, and lots of guests in the winters to enjoy snowmobiling, ski-ing, and other winter sports, but in spring, our bookings tend to slow down. So why do we believe it is one of the best times to come? Here are our top 10 reasons to visit us in the spring: Cooler temperatures mean clearer skies for stargazing (and this year, viewing the northern lights!) Sit on the dock or around the firepit and see what you can see. Watch the wildlife come alive! Not really, they were probably already living, but you WILL likely see more deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels eagles and loons at this time of year. Less Traffic -The Northwoods can be busy with traffic in the summers, but in the spring it is still slow so that means less congestion on the roads! Serenity -The lake we are on is typically quiet, but it is even more peaceful in the spring when there aren't as many people around. Take the kayaks out for a morning paddle and enjoy the lake all to yourself! Enjoy the indoor fireplaces every night! Both the lake house and Chippewa River Cabin both have indoor wood-burning fireplaces with firewood included. Better prices !-During this season, we have several discounts that are available (depending on the timing). Right now, we are offering a special on weekday getaways: buy 2 nights, get one free with check-ins anytime between Sunday and Tuesday. Lower minimums -the night minimum in the spring is only 2 nights, in the summer our minimums increase to 4-7 nights. Few to no bugs ! Because the temperatures are still fairly cool there aren't many bugs at this time of year. 🦟 More vacation time -because we are less busy and usually have a few days between guests, chances are high that we can grant early check-in and/or late check-out. A spring getaway is the perfect thing after a long cold winter!

The Top 10 Things That Will Ruin Your Summer Vacation...

The Best Waterfall in Northern Wisconsin If you're looking for a great hiking spot that offers unparalleled views of Lake Superior and its surroundings, St. Peter’s Dome and Morgan Falls is for you! The trek to the 80-foot falls is flat and relatively easy. The path to St. Peter’s Dome is slightly more difficult and rugged and is 4.2 miles long, but would be doable for families with elementary aged kids and older. We packed our picnic lunch from Miller’s Market in Hayward to enjoy at the top, and highly recommend it for a fun experience! Practical Considerations: The trail is located about an hour drive from Hayward and requires a $5 cash parking fee per vehicle. We recommend if you aren’t going to picnic to bring water and snacks, as well as plenty of bug spray. It took us about 2.5 hours to do both the falls and the dome, but we didn’t have our kids along. There are bathrooms located at the trailhead and the hiking trail allows dogs on a leash. To see a sneak peek of our time, view our Instagram post about our hike here !
