Our Favorite Temu Finds-Pt. 1

We are beginning a new series, a bit of a behind the scenes look at our favorite Temu finds that we use in our Wildwood Escapes properties.

We love Temu because it is a good way to provide extra special small amenities that our guests love for budget prices.  In this post, we will give you some of our top finds that are ready to use, and provide links (but keep in mind that Temu doesn't always have stock of the same items, though usually similar products can be found).  These items are all things we use in our properties and have loved.  Check out our Instagram page for videos on where we use the products, and also follow us as we will be showcasing photos all of our wonderful Temu hack ideas there!

Ready To Use Temu Finds:

  1. Lockbox-We use smart locks so that our guests can check-in at their convenience, so having a lockbox with a key is essential for when Wisconsin winters get to -20 degrees and our batteries and electronics decide to stop working.  These lock boxes are functional and screw into the wall wherever you need them.  One small adaptation we have made is to label them because at Acorn Shores we have two buildings, so want to make sure it's clear which one holds which key.
  2. Microfiber cleaning cloths-These are small but mighty.  Our guests can use them for anything from electronics to countertops without us fearing that a harsh cleaning chemical was needed or that it will scratch screens.
  3. Silicone baking tool sets-These silicone tools are great! They don't scratch, are pretty durable, and for $3 for a 5 piece set, you really can't beat the price.  This particular set just happens to match my color scheme, but there are a variety of different sets available for under $10.
  4. Smore's sticks-with summer bookings starting to come in now, we are gearing up!  These smore's sticks for roasting marshmallows are great! They are ready to use as is, but we will detail how we elevated them in part 2 of this series.
  5. Coffee bar anti-drip mat-we have this mat on our coffee bar cart at Chippewa River Cabin.  It catches all the spills and protects the wood top of the cart, but also has cute branding that looks great in photos.
  6. Acrylic bathroom vanity containers with bamboo tops-These cute containers are great for storing the floss picks and q-tips we like to make sure the bathrooms are stocked with at Wildwood Escapes properties.  If you wanted to upcycle them a bit, you could add on-brand labels to them, but we've left them as is.

Wondering when to plan your vacation to Wisconsin's Northwoods? We have lots of guests who come in the summers to enjoy the Lake and the River, lots of guests in the fall to enjoy fires and fall colors, and lots of guests in the winters to enjoy snowmobiling, ski-ing, and other winter sports, but in spring, our bookings tend to slow down. So why do we believe it is one of the best times to come? Here are our top 10 reasons to visit us in the spring: Cooler temperatures mean clearer skies for stargazing (and this year, viewing the northern lights!) Sit on the dock or around the firepit and see what you can see. Watch the wildlife come alive! Not really, they were probably already living, but you WILL likely see more deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels eagles and loons at this time of year. Less Traffic -The Northwoods can be busy with traffic in the summers, but in the spring it is still slow so that means less congestion on the roads! Serenity -The lake we are on is typically quiet, but it is even more peaceful in the spring when there aren't as many people around. Take the kayaks out for a morning paddle and enjoy the lake all to yourself! Enjoy the indoor fireplaces every night! Both the lake house and Chippewa River Cabin both have indoor wood-burning fireplaces with firewood included. Better prices !-During this season, we have several discounts that are available (depending on the timing). Right now, we are offering a special on weekday getaways: buy 2 nights, get one free with check-ins anytime between Sunday and Tuesday. Lower minimums -the night minimum in the spring is only 2 nights, in the summer our minimums increase to 4-7 nights. Few to no bugs ! Because the temperatures are still fairly cool there aren't many bugs at this time of year. 🦟 More vacation time -because we are less busy and usually have a few days between guests, chances are high that we can grant early check-in and/or late check-out. A spring getaway is the perfect thing after a long cold winter!

The Top 10 Things That Will Ruin Your Summer Vacation...

The Best Waterfall in Northern Wisconsin If you're looking for a great hiking spot that offers unparalleled views of Lake Superior and its surroundings, St. Peter’s Dome and Morgan Falls is for you! The trek to the 80-foot falls is flat and relatively easy. The path to St. Peter’s Dome is slightly more difficult and rugged and is 4.2 miles long, but would be doable for families with elementary aged kids and older. We packed our picnic lunch from Miller’s Market in Hayward to enjoy at the top, and highly recommend it for a fun experience! Practical Considerations: The trail is located about an hour drive from Hayward and requires a $5 cash parking fee per vehicle. We recommend if you aren’t going to picnic to bring water and snacks, as well as plenty of bug spray. It took us about 2.5 hours to do both the falls and the dome, but we didn’t have our kids along. There are bathrooms located at the trailhead and the hiking trail allows dogs on a leash. To see a sneak peek of our time, view our Instagram post about our hike here !
